Born on the island of HAWAII, Joan Blackshear has an island family history dating back four generations. After graduating with a degree in Fashion Design from Woodbury University in Los Angeles, she worked with the legendary Jean Louis Couture in Beverly Hills. Joan's designs have appeared in numerous publications, including Women's Wear Daily, Canada Elle, Aloha and Hawaii magazines.

After returning to Hawaii in the late 1980's, Joan launched her own design company. Currently, her main focus has been wall hangings and table runners. Collected by many, her line has been displayed and sold at numerous fine galleries, museum stores, and gift shops throughout the United States.
