Kimono DesignsAlthough Theresa Gallup calls Springfield, Missouri home, she crafts exquisite JAPANESE HANDBAGS that are true works of art. During her seven year stay in JAPAN as a college administrator, she became immersed in Japanese culture. A lifetime interest in textiles led her to collect beautiful VINTAGE KIMONOS. Not content to leave them in drawers, she designed contemporary garments for herself. Soon friends called on her to share her creations with them. By 1995, she'd held several trunk shows, which resulted in a feature story in a leading Japanese newspaper and a showing at the United States Embassy in Tokyo. Rich EMBROIDERED SILK KIMONOS, ornately BROCADED OBIS, elaborate wedding robes, royal blue and persimmon red christening gowns are all inspirations for her designs. Theresa gives new lives to these treasured fabrics: her purses resurrect HISTORIC WORKS OF ART and transform them into CONTEMPORARY FASHION ACCESSORIES.
